Mortgage Company Payments

1. Is the Tax Collecting official required by law to contact the Mortgage Company prior to the tax season?

No. It is the responsibility of the financial institution to ensure that they are paying on the correct property based on the legal description.

2. Will I be responsible for mailing my tax bill to my mortgage company?

Mortgage Company Request for Payment are usually downloaded through our Software Vendor (Delta Communications) or requested directly through our office. It is your responsibility however; to make sure that your taxes are paid. Therefore, it would be greatly beneficial for you to forward your original bill to your Mortgage Company.

3. Will I receive a receipt once the mortgage company pays my taxes?

Upon request

4. Will my mobile home decal be mailed directly to me if applicable?

Once the taxes are paid, the decal will be sent to the taxpayer.

5. If my taxes are paid by a mortgage company, and they are not paid by December 31st, will I be charged a penalty and the continuance of non-payment result in a sale of my property?

Yes, penalties cannot be waived. It is your responsibility to ensure that your property taxes are paid and on time. It may be necessary for you to contact your mortgage company if there is a problem with your payment.
